Cyclist who died in Dublin city road crash was a Central Bank employee

He was removed by ambulance to St James’ Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A MAN HAS died after being knocked off his bike in the early hours of this morning.

The man, who was aged in his 40s, is understood to have worked at the Central Bank of Ireland as a solicitor.

The incident occurred on Patrick Street in Dublin city centre at around 12.45am this morning. He was removed by ambulance to St James’ Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was not injured.

A garda spokesman said: “A garda investigation has begun into the crash and the scene of the incident was closed to facilitate an examination of the area by garda forensic collision investigators.

“Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Kevin Street garda station on 01 666 9400.”
